The goal of this product is to make the process of preparing a tax forms as simple as possible while providing the maximum amount of power and flexibility. This is accomplished through a simple on the form style entry interface, automatic calculations, simple navigation, comprehensive support of grid based schedules, and fully customizable field formats.
Navigation is made simple with the Table of Contents pane, the comprehensive Drill-Down operation (to find the source of a calculated field), and intuitive keyboard actions. There is also a Back button to return you to the previously open page.
The program makes working with grid based schedules easy. Continuation schedules are generated automatically at print time. Schedule items (or rows) can be cut, copied, and pasted between different schedules with the push of a button. Navigating through a long list of schedule items is as simple as scrolling up or down one row at a time, or going to the first or last row. And all navigation is done at the push of a button or through intuitive keyboard commands. The previously active grid row is always restored when a page is reopened. There is no need to search for that row again.
In this program what you see is definitely what you get. If you do not like what you see then you can change the formatting of any field (font, text alignment, show or hide zeros, decimal precision, date format, etc.) If you need to add text on the form then you may create an annotation field and place it anywhere on the page.
Worksheets are provided to assist the user in field calculations. Worksheets are attached form pages. When the tax instructions refer to a worksheet in the calculation of a field that worksheet is provide to be attached at the user’s election. When attached the resulting value of the worksheet will be carried to the field of the form. Until the worksheet is attached the field will remain an entry field. The worksheet can be deleted at any time. All of the available worksheets for the active field are shown in a list below the Table of Contents tree. To find the worksheet that defines a fields value the Drill Down button can be used to navigate it.
General worksheets are also available to enhance the users. For any currency field its value can be defined as the sum of a detailed list of items by attaching the Details List worksheet. Each page can have a blank attachment page where the user can enter any text for a page that can be saved and printed with the form. Each description field can have an Extended Description worksheet attached to allow for more detail than the field will provide.
